Yeah, having no place to stay in a strange city is inherently dangerous, especially with travel bags.
Also, this is why I always have paper copies of my reservation information. Ditching paper and relying 100% on your phone is not a good travel hack. Paper is thin and cheap and light, and has saved my bacon a few times.
