Steam Powered Giraffe for

Add things for me to talk about here.
Where to start? I love them.
The band's vibe just works for me. I like how they use the premise of being robots to do stuff that is emotional, silly or deep. I did two drafts of this post where I just started going off on disliking mainstream music and how strange it is to be in a waiting room and have the radio play some really, really creepy song about obsessing over what a women does in bed to other guys. That is so normalized in our culture and I hate it. But, I didn't want this post to just be about that.
They have amazing vocals and vocalists. The bots are played by characters of different backgrounds, which adds a lot to the music. I love all that bots, but song by The Spine (played by David Michael Bennet) tend to be the ones that really grab me. Wired Wrong is cathartic to listen to, On a Crescendo is moving, of the sillier songs I really like Steamboat Shenanigans, etc.
I'll embed one video, it's an old one but it's sort of the band explaining what they are:
I'm having trouble figuring out how to say what I like so much about them, but they make me feel warm and less alone. Also, most of the fandom is very lovely. Going to the 10th anniversary concert was one of my best fandom experiences.

Zero, the newest bot, was built later and doesn't have that underlying troubling programming. If you haven't heard they new guy yet his voice is amazing.
The band's lore and world setting has some dark edges.
