* I am still working on my prep for New Orleans. I have one big question left: do I dare fly without noise cancelling headphones? Especially with parents using ipads without headphones to deal with kids? Good ones are expensive and take up a chunk of packing space. Also, trying to navigate what brand I can rely on these days will eat up a chunk of time. I really don't want to spend the money, but might have regrets if I don't.
I'd say that behavior on planes is out of control these days, but really it has been my whole life. It's up to people to try to insulate themselves.
I'm at the point where if I want to buy/order anything for the trip I need to do it now.
* Hopefully, I can do a test packing Monday. I rarely fly, and when I do it's usually for a very short trip. So, I've got to do things like put some of my sunscreen lip balm - and a few other items - into travel containers.

Hi! Here's what I am using for a noise cancelling headset

This is really just to explain that I find Bose an excellent and sturdy brand. They do have earbuds at $180 off the Bose website which means you might find them cheaper elsewhere.
Should you get a pair for the trip regardless of brand? Absolutely.
My husband bought the Sony Noise Cancelling Headphones WHCH710N the same year and his is starting to futz out but he is neglectful when it comes to personal electronics. Seriously, he once complained about his phone and I sharply reminded that every goddamn day for 3 years - he puts the phone in his SHIRT pocket and then BENDS OVER to pick up trash off the GARAGE floor at his job. "For 3 years, you have dropped that phone -in front of me - on hard concrete every morning at least once. I don't want to hear how it's piece of crap."
I then took the phone and programmed it to display "AH! LUDDITE!" every time he opened it.
But I digress - Sony makes a solid noise cancelling product, too.

Date: 2024-09-30 07:44 pm (UTC)From:All the Sony ones I looked at on Amazon have Alexa integration now and that's a hard no. Shopping for electronics these days sucks! I do like Bose in general, but my old ones were Bose and those died. I did order some JBL ones because comfort on the plane can make a huge swing in how my vacation goes.
My last flight was a red eye and a family had Frozen playing loudly on repeat on a tablet. A lot of people downplay the impact of your actual travel on your trip, but stuff can be miserable, yo.

So yeah, not having them could be so potentially miserable.
